Committed to creating a community that works for everyone
A Proven Advocate. A Grounded Leader.
Billy Palmer brings three decades of experience in legislative and grassroots impact. His community service began at the age of 16, refurbishing homes for low-income families. It was there, in his role as a “Community Builder” with YouthWorks, that Billy’s passion for creating positive change took root.
Since then, Billy’s work has spanned a wide range of issues including, indigenous justice, neighborhood revitalization, economic equality, gender equity, constitutional rights, reproductive freedom, voting rights, youth empowerment, and advocacy for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. His leadership and impact have earned him numerous accolades, including the Presidential Volunteer Service Award for Economic Equality from President Obama, the Pillar of Hope Award from the Rape Recovery Center, and most recently, the Excellence in Legislative Advocacy Award from the Utah Library Association for his role in co-founding Let Utah Read.
Most recently, Billy served as Director of Campaigns for the ACLU of Utah, where he led legislative, active policy and grassroots efforts across multiple issue areas, empowering communities to engage in self advocacy. Before that, he spent five years as a public affairs journalist, hosting and producing RadioACTive on KRCL 90.9 FM—a show that spotlighted local issues and elevated the voices of community members working to make a difference.
